The Cardinal raised his white eyebrows.

I am busy enough with these things, and I am not so anxious or a tiara which would overweigh me with duties. No, really, I am in no hurry. But has there been a change of policy in Paris? Nine months ago I had collected nearly every vote, and it was the King of France who lost them for me. Do they now want to see me become Pope after all?"
